1. In creating one of my favorite pieces made out of clay I used the pottery wheel. The pottery wheel made it easier to create a cup that was even on all sides and was very proportional. The function of the pottery wheel is to shape a piece of clay into a mug or a bowl. The purpose is to make it easier to create pieces that are used as like mugs or even bowls.
2. I understand more about tools now that I have been using, for example the pottery wheel. I did not know how to use the pottery wheel before coming into this class. Now I can create a piece in just a few tries. I have grown to actually want to make pieces on the wheel and not dreading it. 3. My favorite material I used this year was clay. I enjoyed molding the clay and then firing my pieces and glazing them. I like working with clay because it is easy to mold and it can stand up by itself when it gets to the right dryness. Clay is also very smooth and fun to touch. 4. My cardboard orange was my most successful piece. The process I went through was first measuring and cutting out the orange slices. Then I cut out pieces for the outside of my orange and clued them onto the slices that I made. Then I cut out the small little slices and clued them on to the other slices. FInally I glued all the pieces together and colored it orange. 5. Something I found most difficult in this class was throwing on the wheel. Something I could do to get better at throwing would be to practice more and take the time to listen to some one teach me how to throw.

The process of my paper mache piece was to get a small soccer ball and make a small paper ball and tape them together. Then I began to wrap the balls with paper towels. Once I had the first layer done i began to add another layer. Then I added the final layer of paper mache and let it dry. Then I began to paint my seal with grey. Finally I added eyes and whiskers to make it more like a seal. My piece was successful with the colors and the shape of the face. Some difficulties I had were adding different layers of the paper towel and not having it get everywhere.
In Progress: Some things that inspired my piece was the use of the Meanders which are greek key designs, because when I was 11 I went to Greece and I really liked the look of th Meanders. The fish was inspired by a koi fish because I really like the fish and they was it looks. My process so far started by rolling out a slab and then building it into a cup. Then I began to paint the cup black and starting carving my design.
Finished: The process I had with my sgraffito piece was that I used a slab and made a cup. Then I painted it with underglaze and began to carve my design into it. Then I put it in the kiln and when it came out I put a clear glaze on it. I think the sgraffito process is very easy and not as complicated as some of the other projects that we did. My piece was successful with the design and the size. I would fix the cup and make it more of a mug instead of just a cup. In Progress: One of my pieces I coiled and the other one I made on the wheel. The process of the coil piece is that I cut out a cardboard outline and tried to follow it. Then I began to build it up and smooth it out. The process for the wheel piece was that I just threw a piece of clay on the wheel. It took me a couple of tries to throw the piece on the wheel. Some difficulties I had were throwing on the wheel and the thickness of my coil piece. Some things that were successful were my out come of both of my pieces. I don't have a plan I am just going to put random designs on my pieces now. My plans have changed dramatically with the size of my wheel piece.
Finished: The process of pitfire and saggar is to dig a hole and line it with flammable materials. Then you wrap your piece in tinfoil and have lots of other things inside the tinfoil like dog food, salt, and saw dust. Finally you light the fire and wait for it to burn out and then cool off, then you can take your piece off. I feel like my piece was very successful even though it was all random. Somethings I would change would be the use of different materials. I burned dog food, salt, saw dust, egg shells, and wood. We used the leces pot. The history is that they are specimens of woven fabrics of a lace like character. I worked on one of the pigs and the houses. Register is the way a speaker uses language differently in different circumstances. Sgraffito is a form of decoration made by scratching through a surface to reveal a lower layer of a contrasting color, typically done in plaster or stucco on walls, or in slip on ceramics before firing.
I first rolled out a slab and then put it into a cylinder shape then I pinched the feet of it so that it made a tripod stand. Then I added the dots that are in and out and finally I added the handle. I used a fake pull handle. I made the handle by using a sponge and pushing the clay in three different directions so that it was all even. I found my dots very successful and my whole mug. I would probably make the dots smaller than they are now. Clay Slab is clay which has been made flat by rolling.
The theme for my frame was flowers. I put flowers that are into the frame and some that pop out of the frame. I found that the shape and the flowers that are out of the frame are very successful. I would have put different kind of flowers on my frame. I first rolled out a slab then I cut the shape that I wanted for my frame. Then I stamped the flowers in and made the flowers that were in.
The process to making our paper sculpture was that first we got a shoe box and painted it brown and then we started making flowers and the animals. Then we got flower foam and and glued the flowers to a piece of cardboard and stuck the flowers into the foam so they stood up. Then we put the animals either on the ground or a piece of wire to seem like they were flying. Some pros of our project were the flowers and our lizard. Some of the cons of our project was our bugs and our grass.
My process started by drawing out what I wanted to sculpt. Then I started by drawing my design and carving the everything but the lines I drew. Once I realized my design wouldn't work I started to change it up and started carving some of the lines off. Finally once I was done carving I began to paint my piece red and pink. The obstacles I had to overcome was changing my piece after I was done carving it. I overcame it by just winging it and cutting out the piece I didn't need and it actually worked. I picked the colors I did because I thought the pink and the red went really well together and I wanted to do the pink, so I had to do the red. I found that my piece is able to stand by its own and I think that it is very successful.
