I also really like the trees that are at the bottom of the rock, I think it represents the reference image very well. I also really like the shape of the mug. The size of the mug is very successful. I also do like the simplicity of the mug. Cons: I do not like the handle, I think it is too thin to hold the mug. Process: I threw my mug until I got my desired size and shape. Once I liked it I let it get leather hard until I trimmed it to look more round. Once I was done trimming it I then added the thin handle to the mug. Arter that I added the outline of the rock. Then I added slip using a spatula to get the rock like texture. After it dried I then carved in some large trees using a needle tool and pencil to make the branch details very precise. Final:In Progress:Pros: I was really like the handle on this mug, I also think it blends perfectly into the mug. I also really like the was detail of the water on the bottom. I think the water detail looks very realistic. I think they flies look very accurate. The speckles are the smaller flies that are covering the beach. I also really like the shape of the mug. Cons: I think the mug is mug is very thick and could be too heavy if it is filled with some sort of beverage. Process: When I was throwing this mug I did not make it very tall, but with the amount of clay that I used it made it really thick and short. Once it was leather hard I trimmed it. After it was trimmed I began to braid the handle with three thick coils. Once the braid was just as dry as the mug, I attached them. Then I carved a line that seperated the beach area from the water. I then began to add the tiny flies in the background using a file. Once I got all the texture I then added the the bigger flies to show that they are flies. After I got all the flies I then added the texture of the water. Final:In Progress:Pros: I really like the shape of the mug. I also think that the handle fits very well with the shape of the mug. I also really like the details of the trees, scattered all along the hillside. I also really like the details of the rocks that were on the shore. Cons: I was unable to add as much detail as I would have like to the water because it was very still and the rocks would have not looked right. Process: First I threw the mug until I got a desired shape. Once it is leather hard I trimmed it. After it was trimmed I then added the handle that I saw would fit the mug, based on its shape. I then began to carve in a line that would show the top of the hillside. Then I began carving in the rocks that stuck out of the water. I finally added the trees using a pencil. I also made sure to space them out where they were spaced in my reference image. Final:In Progress:Pros: I really like the accuracy of the building and the jade man on the mug. I also really like the way the trees look in the background. I really like all the details that I added on the building and it looks very realistic. Cons: I do not like the size of the mug, I think it is too small to be used for a normal cup of coffee. Process: I started throwing a mug until I liked the shape of it. Then I let it get leather hard before I trimmed it. After I trimmed it I used my memory to draw out a jade man, which is pieces of jade stacked up into the shape of a man. Then I used my reference image to draw the shape and all the details on the building that I went in. Once I was done I added little pine trees into the remaining area, like the image. After that I added a small handle that fit the size of my mug perfectly. Final:In Progress:Pros: I found the shape and the handle very successful on this mug. I also found the texture of the gravel and the trees successful. I really like the size of the mug and how light it is Cons: I had a hard time with sketching out the faces of the presidents and making them look realistic. I did not find the texture of the rock very successful, I do not think it has a rock like texture. Process: I first threw my mug until I liked the shape, once I was done I let it get leather hard and then I trimmed it. After I trimmed it I added the handle and put some extra clay around it to make it look like it was thrown with the mug. I then began to trace the outline of the presidents. Once I got the outline I then added the detail of the presidents facial features. Then I put slip around the presidents and made it look like the rock details. I finally added the trees on the bottom with a pencil. Final:In Progress:Pros: I really like the shape and the size of the bowl. I also really like the Crater Lake outline on the bottom of the inside of the bowl. I also really like the detail of the rocks on the outside of the bowl using slip and a spatula to make the texture. Cons: I do not like trees that I have added onto the side of the bowl. I think they are too thick and does not represent what I see Crater Lake looking like. Process: I first threw the bowl until I found the shape successful. Once is was leather hard I then trimed it. Once it was trimmed I then carved the shape of Crater Lake into the bottom of the bowl. I then used a spatula and slip to make the texture of the rock onto the outside of the bowl to make it look like the rocks. I put the rocky texture on the outside and the shape of the lake on the inside because it made the bowl look as if it was the lake. I finally added the the trees onto the outside of the mug. I used a stamp that I made out of clay so that the trees can look realistic and relatively the same. Final:In Progress:Pros: I find the shape of my bowl very successful. I also really like all the details of the buildings and the bushes that surround them. I also like the details of the different buildings, so not one building is the same. Cons: I do not think that most of the buildings look like they are from Greece. I also do not like the space that I left between the buildings, because in Greece they are basically all on top of each other. Process: I first threw the bowl until I liked the shape and size. Then I let it get leather hard so that I could trim it. Once it was trimmed I began carving the buildings in. I started with the windmills very far away from each other. Then I put the dome shaped buildings far away from each other. I then filled in the spaces between the windmills and the dome shaped buildings. Once it was filled to my liking I began to add bushed and bricks into the spaces. Final:In Progress:Pros: I really like the shape of this mug and the way it makes the trees look taller. I also think the handle fits the mug very well because the mug is a little larger. I also think that the fence on the bottom relates very well with the image that I used. Cons: I do not like the way that the leaves look on the tree. They look more like a bush than separate leaves because of the way I made them look. Process: I first threw a mug that was very tall then I used 2 fingers to pinch it in and make it have this funky shape. Once it was leather hard I trimmed it until I liked it. Then I made a handle that would coordinate with the shape of the mug. Then I carved in the shape of the trees and the fence. Finally I used slip and a sponge to make leaf texture on the top of the trees. Final: |
